On my way home from work at a trendy SoHo restaurant, I encountered an interesting experience on the uptown 1 train. As I sat with my backpack and headphones, a man sitting nearby pulled out a jar of pickles from a plastic bag. He offered me some, but I politely declined as I had my own meal from work. The man nonchalantly continued to enjoy his pickles and juice.
During a Saturday morning in late summer, I was walking along Sixth Avenue in Park Slope after buying bread. At Carroll Street, a construction worker was redirecting traffic due to road work on the block.
