Hollywood mogul set to return to New York court after being held on Rikers Island.
Harvey Weinstein, the Hollywood producer facing legal troubles, was recently hospitalized for emergency heart surgery. The 72-year-old was transferred to Bellevue Hospital from Rikers Island jail complex in New York City after complaining of health issues. His lawyer, Arthur Aidala, revealed that Weinstein had been feeling unwell over the weekend and had contacted his jail consultant, Craig Rothfeld, for help.
Weinstein’s surgery took place on Monday morning, and he is currently recovering in the intensive care unit. Rothfeld mentioned that Weinstein has various health concerns that require ongoing treatment. Prior to the surgery, Weinstein had been experiencing symptoms like a cough and weight gain, which were attributed to fluid buildup around his lungs and heart.
After the surgery, Weinstein expressed gratitude for being alive, as shared by Rothfeld. The situation highlights the importance of monitoring and addressing health issues, especially for individuals with preexisting conditions.
