Amtrak Northeast Service Resumes Following Power Issues Disruption

Train service disrupted between New Haven, Conn., and Washington due to Bronx fire and fallen wires in Philadelphia.

Amtrak service was disrupted due to a brush fire in the Bronx and downed wires near Philadelphia, causing power outages and delays between New York and Washington, D.C. The service interruption lasted for several hours as repairs were made to the tracks and overhead wires. The fire in the Bronx was attributed to work being done on a high-voltage cable by Amtrak employees. Once the issues were resolved, Amtrak announced that service had resumed with delays of at least 30 minutes due to trains running on a single track. Travelers between New York and Washington experienced significant disruptions, while service between New York and New Haven, Conn., was also affected. Con Edison and Amtrak worked to assess and repair the damage, allowing for the restoration of train services.
