Chief Adviser to Mayor Adams Under Investigation by Grand Jury for Alleged Misconduct

Manhattan DA’s office focuses on aide, Ingrid Lewis-Martin, in evidence presentation.

Manhattan prosecutors are currently looking into corruption allegations involving Ingrid Lewis-Martin, the former chief adviser to Mayor Eric Adams. The investigation has been ongoing since at least September when Lewis-Martin’s phones were seized at Kennedy International Airport. The prosecutors have presented evidence to a grand jury and are potentially seeking an indictment this week.

Lewis-Martin, aged 63, resigned from her position in city government abruptly on Sunday. The investigation is said to involve possible bribery and money laundering in the city’s leasing of commercial properties. Additionally, there are allegations involving Lewis-Martin’s son, Glenn Martin II, a professional D.J., Mayank Dwivedi, a hotelier with properties in New York City and the Hamptons, and one of Dwivedi’s business associates. The focus of the potential charges this week seems to be on these individuals and possible bribery and official misconduct.

It is important to note that the investigation is still ongoing, and there is no indication that Mayor Eric Adams is directly involved. Adams is currently facing unrelated federal charges including bribery, conspiracy, and wire fraud, with a trial scheduled for April.

Lewis-Martin’s lawyer, Arthur L. Aidala, stated that both he and his client have been aware of the investigation since her phones were seized. He emphasized that Lewis-Martin has served the city ethically and lawfully for many years.
