Two adults and two boys, aged 12 and 13, were charged in the assault on the ex-New York governor and his stepson, authorities confirmed.
Former New York Governor David A. Paterson and his stepson were assaulted in a street attack, leading to the arrest and charging of two adults and two minors. The man, Travor Nurse, 40, and the woman, Diamond Minter, 34, were charged with second-degree gang assault, with Mr. Nurse facing an additional charge for injuring a person over 65 years old. Both individuals work for the New York City Housing Authority.
The two boys involved, aged 12 and 13, were also charged with gang assault and turned themselves in to the police with their parents. Another minor who was present at the scene voluntarily went to the police but was not charged.
Mr. Paterson, 70, recounted being punched in the shoulder and face during the attack, while his stepson, Anthony Sliwa, 20, suffered injuries requiring stitches to his lower lip.
The incident took place on a Friday night in Manhattan, with Mr. Nurse and Ms. Minter fleeing the scene before being apprehended by the authorities.
The arrests and charges highlight the seriousness of the assault on the former governor and his family members, prompting public outrage and concern over the safety of public officials and their loved ones.
