Police suspect criminal activity in a homicide on a subway car at Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station.
A tragic incident occurred in Brooklyn on Sunday morning, where a woman was found on fire inside a subway car and was pronounced dead at the scene. The New York Police Department has stated that they suspect criminal activity in the woman’s death.
The incident took place at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue subway station when police received a report of a woman on fire in the middle car of a stationary F train. Emergency responders managed to extinguish the fire, but unfortunately, the woman did not survive. The police are treating her death as a homicide, although the exact circumstances of how she caught fire remain unclear.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities reviewing camera footage to gather more information. The woman’s identity and age have not been disclosed at this time. The medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death.
As a result of the incident, there was no F train service between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue and either Church Avenue or Kings Highway. Passengers were advised to expect delays in both directions, with southbound F trains turning back at either Kings Highway or Church Avenue for northbound service.
This story is still developing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
